1. Project Overview

1.1 Project Background:The client, as a global leader in solar technology and manufacturing, consistently upholds the principles of green manufacturing and sustainable development, actively promoting the large-scale application of clean energy in the industrial sector. The 12MW distributed photovoltaic power generation project constructed within its self-owned manufacturing park in Yinchuan, Ningxia, represents a key initiative in building a green and low-carbon industrial campus. The project aims to achieve clean electricity consumption for production, optimize the energy structure, and accelerate the low-carbon transformation of the industrial facility.

1.2 Project Requirements:The project is located on the metal rooftops of large industrial buildings. It requires efficient utilization of rooftop space for PV deployment without compromising structural safety or disrupting normal production operations. Yinchuan is characterized by strong winds, frequent sand and dust, and significant temperature variations, placing high demands on the mounting system’s corrosion resistance, wind-load performance, and environmental adaptability. In addition, the project schedule was tight, requiring rapid deployment while ensuring uninterrupted factory operations. The project therefore needed a PV mounting solution that is safe, reliable, easy to install, and perfectly compatible with metal rooftops.

2. Challenges

2.1 Structural Constraints and Safety Requirements of Metal Roof
● The factory buildings have been in service for many years, making it critical to ensure that the newly installed PV system does not affect overall structural safety, particularly under wind and snow loads, with strict requirements for stability and uplift resistance.
● The load-bearing capacity of metal roof is limited, and roof penetration is strictly prohibited to avoid damaging the waterproof layer, placing stringent requirements on load distribution and non-penetrative mounting design.

2.2 Harsh Climatic Conditions in Northwest China
● The region experiences strong winds and frequent sandstorms, with corrosive particles present in the air, requiring mounting materials with excellent corrosion resistance to ensure long-term system reliability.
● Significant day–night and seasonal temperature differences demand good thermal expansion and contraction adaptability to prevent structural deformation or loosening of connections caused by thermal stress.

2.3 Construction Schedule and Coordination with Factory Operations
● Installation had to be carried out during normal factory operations, with limited working hours and strict requirements to minimize interference with production activities, necessitating a mounting system that supports fast installation and low-disruption deployment.
● The compressed project timeline required highly efficient coordination across design, supply, and installation to achieve early grid connection and improve project economics.
3. Solution
In response to the characteristics of metal rooftops and the project’s specific requirements, Antaisolar delivered a customized rooftop PV solution centered on a base-and-rail mounting system.

3.1 Non-Penetrative Installation Optimized for Metal Roof
●  Dedicated metal roof clamp bases were used to securely fix the system to the roof without drilling or penetrating the waterproof layer, fundamentally safeguarding roof integrity and waterproof performance.
● The clamp bases feature strong adaptability to multiple roof profiles, reducing customization costs while enhancing solution versatility.

3.2 High Corrosion Resistance and Lightweight Structural Design
● The main mounting structure is made of high-strength aluminum alloy AL6006-T6, offering excellent corrosion resistance and outstanding performance in the windy, dusty, and temperature-variable environment of northwest China, effectively extending system service life.
● The lightweight characteristics of aluminum significantly reduce additional roof loads, maximizing the utilization of rooftop load-bearing capacity while ensuring structural safety and supporting higher PV installation density.

3.3 Pre-Assembled Design and Rapid Installation Process
● The system adopts a modular, pre-assembled design, with key connection points pre-configured in the factory. On-site installation requires only simple assembly and fastening, greatly reducing installation steps and construction time.
● Visual installation manuals and dedicated tools are provided, enabling installers to quickly master installation procedures and achieve efficient, low-interference construction without disrupting factory operations.
4. Results
The project was successfully completed and connected to the grid, providing a high-quality benchmark for green transformation and the integrated development of “PV + Manufacturing” in industrial parks.

Antaisolar's metal rooftop mounting system, characterized by safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, achieved seamless integration between the PV system and industrial buildings. The project effectively supports the development of a “zero-carbon factory” and demonstrates the value of distributed PV in industrial decarbonization.
